Simple Step-by-Step: Ironing DTF Transfers
Begin by preparing your workspace and garment. Lay the garment flat on a firm, heat-resistant surface—an ironing board with a thin towel or a solid table works well—and smooth out any wrinkles manually. Set your iron to the heat setting that matchies the fabric you are using. Ensure steam is turned off so the iron is in dry mode.
Next, position the transfer by placing it onto the garment with the design facing down. If needed, secure it with heat-resistant tape to prevent shifting.
Cover the design with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet to protect it, then press firmly and steadily with the iron for 15–20 seconds per section. For larger designs, overlap the sections to achieve complete coverage.
Once pressed, peel the film in one smooth motion. This can be done hot, warm, or cold depending on your fabric. If any parts of the design lift, reapply the transfer and press again until it adheres fully.
For the best results, finish by placing parchment or a finishing sheet over the design and pressing once more for 10–15 seconds. This final press enhances adhesion, softens the texture, and reduces shine.
